We make starting fresh a deliberate choice with a defined recovery window. Foleil explains what the local reset removes, what remains elsewhere and how Undo works before you confirm. A protected local copy supports Undo for 24 hours, rather than asking you to treat every reset as a one-way leap.

The advantage is control with visible consequences. Resetting Foleil is not the same as erasing Apple Health, deleting an export or removing every old device backup. A useful reset screen tells you that while you are deciding, rather than implying that one button reaches every copy.

How it works

Open Reset local data to review the removed and retained categories, type RESET and confirm the destructive action. The active Foleil records are cleared, with a protected local copy retained for the 24-hour Undo window; another reset replaces the earlier undo copy. Undo restores records under its checks while Apple Health, on-device assistance and the relevant reminders stay off until you choose to enable them again.

Why it matters

Recovery from a mistaken destructive action is useful only if its limits are understandable. A time window, a replacement rule and a clear list of untouched external copies answer different questions. They should not be collapsed into a claim that everything is either permanently gone or effortlessly recoverable.

Apple's Health data-management guide, published 14 September 2026 and accessed 19 October 2026, describes Health's own deletion controls. That supports the separation between an app's local records and the Health repository. Foleil's reset does not delete records in Apple Health, and the existence of an Undo copy is different from immediate erasure of every byte.

Compared with other health and fitness tools

Apple Health documents deleting individual records or all records of a chosen data type in that same official guide. Foleil's reason to choose its local reset workflow is the explicit review and Undo route for its own app history. We do not claim that Apple Health offers no recovery mechanisms or that its deletion is unsafe. The scope differs: Foleil resets the active Foleil record set, while Health has its own controls and copies.

The evidence and a practical example

Imagine deciding to start a clean Foleil routine, then realising later the same day that you still need the earlier history. The visible Undo route lets you attempt recovery during the stated window. Re-enabling Health and reminders remains a separate decision, so restoring a history does not silently reactivate those features.

The evidence is the reset warning, the confirmation and the records actually restored by Undo. An older exported file remains wherever you saved it, and an older device backup can still hold its copy. After the window expires, the protected undo copy is removed when Foleil next checks expired data. This is a local recovery feature, not a claim of remote deletion, forensic erasure or guaranteed recovery after removal of the app.

Frequently asked questions

Does reset delete my Apple Health records?

No. It clears the active Foleil records in scope. Apple Health, earlier exports and older backups have separate controls.

Can I undo more than one reset?

A second reset replaces the previous undo copy. The workflow is not a permanent archive of every earlier reset.

Does Undo turn Health and reminders back on?

No. The specified Health, on-device assistance and reminder choices stay off until you enable them again.
