We let you choose how much visual movement and decoration surrounds the practical work. Foleil offers Reduce motion, appearance modes and separate choices for celebrations, sound and haptics. You can keep the food, training and recovery tools while adjusting the way the app presents them.

The advantage is comfort and control in a repeated daily task. A celebration can feel welcome at one moment and unnecessary at another. Dark appearance, larger type and quieter transitions address different preferences, so they should not be treated as one all-or-nothing personality setting.

How it works

Use Appearance to choose system-following, light or dark mode and the supported theme and widget looks. Reduce motion changes supported animations, while celebrations, celebration sound and haptics have their own controls. Review the draft and save the relevant choices; a theme change can take effect when you close Settings rather than rebuilding the page you are editing.

Why it matters

Apple's accessibility guidance, accessed 19 October 2026, explains that excessive motion can distract or cause discomfort and recommends responding to Reduce Motion. The practical goal is to keep useful information and actions available while reducing unnecessary movement.

That is different from promising that a switch freezes every visual change. A value still needs to update when its record changes, and a progress state still needs to communicate what is happening. Foleil's controls let you adjust supported presentation effects without treating reduced motion as reduced access to the ordinary task.

Compared with other health and fitness tools

Garmin's official Connect overview, published 3 June 2026 and accessed 19 October 2026, describes customisable Home cards and a broad daily activity experience. Interface personalisation is already part of this category. Foleil's reason to choose the workflow here is the particular set of appearance and motion choices around its own training, food and reflection tools. We do not claim Garmin lacks reduced-motion or appearance settings, because that would require separate evidence beyond its selected overview.

The evidence and a practical example

Imagine opening Foleil late in the evening after using it during a bright afternoon. System-following appearance can match the phone's current mode, or you can choose the available mode directly. If animated celebrations are not useful to you, turn them off while keeping the underlying saved progress.

The evidence is a saved preference taking effect in the supported interface and the information remaining understandable. Turning celebration sound off does not erase the event it marked; changing the widget's look does not alter a workout record. A theme is a presentation choice, not a different data set. These examples describe controls rather than claiming that one colour palette is universally easier to read or that a quiet interface improves a health outcome.

Frequently asked questions

Can I reduce motion without turning off tracking?

Yes. Reduce motion concerns supported presentation effects. It does not disable the normal food and training records.

Are sound and celebrations one setting?

No. The interface provides separate choices, including celebrations, celebration sound and haptics, with related availability rules.

Does the theme change while I am editing Settings?

The relevant page explains when choices apply. A new theme can wait until you save and close Settings, preserving the editing screen.
