We make cycle tracking part of the connected app while keeping the important permissions separate. A cycle feature being enabled in Foleil is not permission to read Apple Health, and using a local log is not the same decision as sending a question to an online AI provider.
That distinction is the reason for this page. Sensitive information needs understandable controls at the point where it crosses a boundary. Foleil gives you local cycle tools, Apple's Health permission choices and the controls for optional external assistance, without asking you to mistake one for another.
How it works
When your profile tracks a cycle, the related Foleil features start enabled; Apple's permission sheet still decides the Health access you allow. Ask can use saved cycle context under the applicable controls and existing AI agreement. You can change the tracking preferences and switch Sprout's external AI off; a Coach data selection is not a per-category external-AI privacy switch.
Why it matters
Apple's HealthKit authorisation documentation, accessed 19 October 2026, explains that apps request access to particular types of Health information. Permission to write and the availability of readable data are separate matters. An empty result should not be interpreted as a reliable explanation of your permission choices.
For Foleil, the practical principle is to describe each control accurately. Your phone's Health choices govern the Health exchange. External AI consent governs a different activity. Switching that service off does not retrospectively retract information already submitted to its provider.
Compared with other health and fitness tools
Flo's official cycle-tracking tour, accessed 19 October 2026, documents symptoms, period predictions, reports and Health Assistant chats. Foleil does not claim exclusive ownership of cycle conversations or a privacy advantage established by a feature list. Our proposition is a cycle record connected with practical training and meal planning, with clearly described Health and AI choices. Privacy comparisons require the actual applicable policies and settings, rather than an assumption that conversational features all process information in the same way.
The evidence and a practical example
Suppose you want to record a period locally but decline a Health permission. Those are compatible choices: declining the exchange is not evidence that no period occurred. If you then open Ask, opening the composer is different from submitting a question. Review what you type and the saved context before using an online route.
If you turn Sprout's AI off, the app records that choice and offers the available device-based paths. A connected external provider has its own disclosure and controls. We do not describe all questions as local or promise category-by-category external exclusion. The evidence is whether each displayed choice matches the actual action you are taking.
Frequently asked questions
Are cycle features off until I enable each one?
No. Related Foleil features start enabled when the profile tracks a cycle. Apple Health access still depends on the permission choices you make.
Does choosing Coach data control every external AI feature?
No. Coach selections affect its facts and charts. They are not per-category switches for every external AI request.
Can I use cycle predictions for contraception?
No. The cycle views are for recording and estimated context, not contraception or confirmation of fertility.
